Tape is now virtually obsolete. People have found that they wish to have their cherished video tapes transferred to DVD or a digital format before they deteriorate and precious memories are lost.
We can transfer Video to DVD or transfer video to USB stick from all of the video formats ie VHS, S-VHS, VHS-C, Video 8, Hi-8, Digital 8, Betamax, Betacam, miniDV, DVCAM, MicroMV as well as camcorder DVDs and memory cards. We can also download video from your phone to a USB stick or make a DVD.

Not only can we transfer video to DVD we can also transfer your video to editable computer files and supply on our memory sticks or on your own sticks or drive. We normally transfer to mp4 files but can do any file format you require. More information on mp4 files here.

SEND
Just send or bring your tapes to the VideoPoint office (address below)
TRANSFER
VideoPoint transfers your tapes. We don’t charge for blank tapes & we offer discounts for 5 or more tapes
PAY
Pay online. If you post your tapes we will send you a link to pay online when the transfers are complete
RETURN
VideoPoint returns your conversions.

What type of tape do I have?
There are quite a few different types of videotape formats.
We can transfer most of the different formats to DVD or digital computer files.
You can look at the different types of tape by clicking on the tabs left/below.
VHS tape
VHS (Video Home System) is the most widely-adopted videocassette format.
It was developed by JVC in 1976.
S-VHS is a higher quality version of VHS
VHS-C
A camcorder version of VHS.
You need an adapter to play back the tape in a normal VCR
S-VHS-C is a higher quality version
Video8/Hi8/Digital8 tape
A very popular camcorder tape format.
Either Video 8 or Hi8 or Digital8.
MiniDV/DVCAM
A small digital tape for camcorders.
Records in a digital DV format or DVCAM
Betamax
A format that lost out to VHS in the popularity war.
Arguably better quality than VHS.
MicroMV
A tiny DV format tape which never really gained any popularity.
Betacam SP
This is a Professional format tape used by broadcasters before the advent of digital recording.
Visually very similar to Betamax tapes

- LowBand uMatic
- HighBand uMatic
- DVCPRO
- M and M11
- Video 2000 (or VCC)
